George Harry Elliott

March 31, 1938 — February 22, 2016

George Harry Elliott, 77, a successful Bonners Ferry and Moyie Springs area businessman passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Valley Vista Care Center. George was born on March 31, 1938 to Hollis and Olive (Tyla) Elliott. He was born, raised and attended West Geauga School in Ohio. In 1956 George married Shirley Lincks and they had a daughter Vickie in 1957 and a son, Tod, in 1959. In 1962 George owned his own company as a pyrometric engineer. They lived in Ohio until 1979, then moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho where he bought and operated Meadow Creek Meats until 1987. He then built his own log house in 1988 living there until his death. After building his own house George built and sold several houses. George bought and remodeled the Bonnerport Building. He sold the Bonnerport Building in 2001. In 2007 they purchased the Moyie Springs Store which was sold in 2013. During the many years George lived in Moyie Springs he was an active member of the Curley Creek Volunteer Fire District. Throughout his life George was an entrepreneur in many things. George loved being with his daughter, granddaughter and great grandchildren. He also loved fishing and hunting. George was preceded in death by his parents, his son Tod, one sister and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley, daughter Vickie, granddaughter Melanie and four great grandchildren Chloe, Bailey, Drake and Deklen, all living here in North Idaho; brother Richard Elliott (Sylvia); sisters-in-law Jeanne Bodjiak and Dorothy Wigand all living in Ohio and many nieces and nephews. George will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial will be held at Crossroads Chapel in Bonners Ferry, ID on March 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Women’s Cancer Group of Bonners Ferry.
