Heaven gained another angel as Fayma Griggs 91, almost 92, passed away on February 22, 2016 at Bonner General after several strokes and seizures. She went peacefully in her sleep, she didn’t know the pain she would have been in.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in Pack River Cemetery with Pastor Fred Page of Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Fayma will be laid to rest next to her husband Maurice Griggs.
Fayma was born March 3, 1924 in Basalt, Idaho the daughter of Vernon and Myrtle Olsen. She grew up in southern Idaho. She loved her family most of all. Loved to bake, crochet, quilting (making sure each new baby in the family had a new quilt), gardening both vegetables and flowers and making any house a home. She was a homemaker all her life working hard to keep things nice, and making sure her children and husband were well taken care of. She also loved her piano playing, passing on the love of music to her children. We will miss her sweet smile, humor and pure love.
Fayma met the love of her life, Maurice L. Griggs Sr., in Wallace, Idaho after his mother wrote him to come from South Dakota, she had a sweet girl she wanted him to meet. Six weeks after they met they were married. They were married 68 years when Maurice died in 2012. Together they raised five children.
She has been living in Life Care in Sandpoint since August 2011. She felt spoiled there as everybody was so sweet to her. She loved the bingo and card games, getting her nails done and the foot soaks. She also loved all the entertainment that came in all the time, singing along as she knew most of the songs, and had played them on the piano. She also loved going to the church services that were offered. So many thanks go out to all her friends she made at Life Care. From the other residents, to the nurses, kitchen staff, drivers, activity workers and the doctor. We thank you so much for the special care you took of her. She always said she felt so spoiled, we said she was well loved.
Fayma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice. Her parents and her two sisters Aloy Jensen and Vauna Jose. Many nieces and nephews and a great-great grandson.
She is survived by her children Val (Karen) Griggs, Sam (Karen) Griggs, Marilyn (Doug) Kelley, Ron Griggs and Lori (Allan) lemmon. Grandchildren Marty, Denise, Debbie, Diana, Delores (Dee Dee), Christina, Tracy, Sabrina, Duane, Tina, Brittney, Linsey, Aaron, Wes, Matt, Zach and Amber.
