Donald Paul Campbell

Donald Paul Campbell, 91, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Thursday, March 24, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, April 9th in the Beardmore Building, 119 Main Street, Priest River, Idaho. Don was born March 8, 1925 in Sandpoint, Idaho the son of Janet and Walter Campbell. He attended local schools and was a volunteer fireman, in Sandpoint, so he could live “rent free” while attending high school. Following high school graduation he joined the US Army, and during WW II he served in Italy and Africa, earning his honorable discharge. Don graduated from the University of Idaho, with a degree in forestry. While living in Moscow he met, and later married, Mildred Bradbury who preceded him in death. He later married Frances Rangitsch, who would also precede him in death. He worked in Missoula, MT for Tree Farmers Horner Waldorf; retiring from Champion International in 1985. Following his retirement he was sought after, as a consultant. Don’s passions were hunting and fishing and his family. Don is survived by his children Dennis (and Carol); Susan (and Mark); Eric (and Patti); Mary (and Tom); eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law Delores Campbell, Kathi Campbell, Evelyn Wick, and Marie Bradbury; Numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his 3 siblings Clint Campbell, Colin Campbell and Dorothy Myers. Memorials may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, where he was a museum contributor, in memory of Donald P. Campbell.
