Antonie Tiffany, 89, long time Hope resident passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Huckleberry House in Sandpoint.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery.
Antonie was born July 11, 1926 in Harrison, South Dakota to Elmer and Lena (VanDenBerg) Poelstra. She was the first girl and fourth child born to Elmer and Lena; to be followed by three more siblings.
Toni grew up in South Dakota but then the family moved to Manhattan, Montana. After three years in Montana the family moved to Sandpoint. While here, she and her Mom raised huge gardens on the farm at the end of Mountain View Road, now called Gooby Road. Her talent at gardening along with our Mom’s green thumb really grew some fantastic gardens and the landscaping was so beautiful with all the flowers; so many to see. The produce helped with the family’s finances; what was not canned was sold to others to enjoy.
Toni was an accomplished seamstress and could crochet, embroidery – so many talents.
Toni was a wonderful person with a heart full of love for everyone. She was an angel in God’s court & spent many hours doing the Lord’s work. Toni taught many young people to love and respect God by holding Bible classes in her home.
Toni worked many years for Ross and Hazel Hall; first in their home and then in the Ross Hall Studio. She was very artistic and was able to work in every stage of photography.
She married Mark Rivers in 1963-1985; when Mark suffered a massive aneurism and passed away. In 1988 Toni married Harold Tiffany and they were together until 2008 when he went to meet the Lord.
Toni was well known to everyone in Hope, Idaho until 2011 and then moved back to Sandpoint to her sister’s home until 2013 when Alzheimer’s and dementia took their toll. She moved into the Huckleberry Retirement Home in March of 2013 and this is where she passed from this earth July 5, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer and Lena Poelstra, her husband Mark Rivers, second husband Harold Tiffany, her brothers John, Cornelius and Arie, her sister Edna Lindstrom.
She is survived by her brother Renald Poelstra (Helen) of Sagle and her sister Ellena (Darrell) Brown of Sandpoint with many, many nieces & nephews.
Toni will be missed by all as she was a very special person and we all know God is waiting to take his angel in his arms. She was the best sister that God sent to this earth and will be greatly missed.
