William Clyde “Bill” Brill departed this world July 30, 2016, in Sandpoint, Idaho. He was 86 years old. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sharon, a brother, Robert, and his children, Debra Genung (Bruce) and Molly Hustoft (Howard), five grandsons, Ryan, Nate, Alex, Luke and T.J. Bill had two daughters by a previous marriage, Debra Heath and Mary Kurke. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and by Matthew Jay Brill, the precious son of Bill and Sharon.
Bill was born June 28, 1930, in Everett, Washington, the son of Ernest and Margaret Brill. He attended local Everett schools graduating from high school in 1948 and then attended Everett Junior College. In 1952, Bill started working in the telephone industry where he had a successful career which took him to Anacortes, Lynnwood and Mukilteo, Washington, as well as Coeur d’Alene, Idaho before he retired in 1989.
Bill was a skilled and enthusiastic skier, who also enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing. He and his family enjoyed boating in the San Juan Islands for many years. Bill was a committed huckleberry picker, and belonged to the Monday Hikers group. He was a member of Primetimers ski club at Schweitzer, serving as president of the club in 2009. One of Bill’s proudest moments was the gift of his ski pass on his 80th birthday, indicating he was still skiing.
Everyone is invited to a celebration of Bill’s life at Heartwood Center at 615 Oak Street, Sandpoint on September 17th at 11 a.m. Please join the family at a buffet lunch following the celebration.
