Ernest J Wyborny, 100, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. His new address is heaven!
Ernest was born in Plymouth, Iowa, third of six children. He learned to play the trumpet and his claim to fame was that his high school band was once conducted by John Philip Sousa.
He was a dedicated husband and father and raised four children, all of whom are blessed by the example he modeled throughout his life of loving and serving the Lord Jesus Christ. He and his wife Sophia were married 72 years before her death in 2008.
All who knew him loved his sense of humor and his positive spirit. He walked a mile every day until about a year before his passing. He had a knack for reinventing himself. Until 93 years of age, he cut his own wood for the winter. After a heart attack, he traded his chain saw for beads and learned to make artistic jewelry. He also made mosaic stepping stones and birdhouses, and loved making crafts with his daughters.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sophia, three siblings, Clara, Harvey and Dorothy.
He is survived by his children; Craig Wyborny of Sandpoint, ID, Christie Weston of Eagle, ID, Carole Grove of Seattle, WA, and Cheryl Alvarez of San Diego, CA; his sisters, Erma McCall of Sandpoint, ID, and Marian Welk of Grapeland, TX; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
