Beverly June Sharp

July 8, 1935 — May 5, 2017

Beverly June Sellmer Sharp, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Heron MT on Friday, May 5, 2017 She was born on July 8, 1935 in Sandpoint, ID, to Willy and Minnie (Vohs) Sellmer and spent her early childhood growing up on the ranch and attending school in Heron, MT. In 1945, the family moved to Sandpoint where she later graduated High School in 1953. While growing up she was a true “Tomboy” spending every minute on the back of a horse with her best friend Jean or the summers back in Heron logging with her Dad. She was the youngest of 4 children, all of whom preceded her in death. After graduating, she met and married Donald Sharp on December 1, 1953. Before Don left for the service, they started their home in Heron where they raised their 4 children until his passing in November of 2002. Beverly was a very hard-working, determined and adventurous woman who loved the Montana outdoors and was an avid “treasure hunter”. She thrived in the mountains hunting for the best huckleberry, dewberry or wild strawberry patch or the most abundant morel spot. When fall came she loved to hunt. She taught herself to “rattle in” whitetail bucks and to her surprise she bagged her first one. She loved the Clark Fork River and spent many hours fishing on its banks. Bass were a special challenge to her. She knew where the best wild apple trees grew and baked delicious pies and crisps from them. Beverly was able to grow most anything and always had an abundant garden with beautiful flowers and enough produce for friends and family. She loved trying new seeds and plants. Junk store finds were another of her favorite things. She found her first old 1800s penny digging in the garden with her mother. That started a lifelong love for coin collecting. She was an avid reader and bottle collector. Anything she ever found interesting she sought to learn more about or teach herself to do. In 1986 Don and Beverly bought the Hereford Restaurant where she worked until her retirement. She met and befriended many people along the way who appreciated her many hunting, fishing and old Heron stories. During the holidays she treated her friends to gifts of homemade syrups and mustards. She will be missed by many friends and family. Beverly is survived by her children: Randy Sharp(Rose) in Noxon, Susan (Dan) Vogel in Noxon, Shelley Sharp in Heron, Lisa Sharp in Noxon. She had a very special love for her grandchildren: James Vogel, Cameo Sharp and great-grandchildren: Avery Vogel and Mia Vogel. She was “Aunt Babe” to several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will held Saturday, at 1:00pm (MSDST) May 13 at the Heron Methodist Church. Potluck to follow.
