Glenda Amy McKinney, 78, passed away in Toppenish, Washington on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am (Montana time) Thursday, September 21st in the Heron Community Church; Heron, Montana. Interment will follow in the Heron Cemetery. Pastor Irene Anderson, New Life Fellowship, Thompson Falls, Montana will be officiating.
Calling hours will from 2:00pm until 5:00pm, Wednesday, Sept. 20th, at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Glenda was in Egnar, Colorado on February 5, 1939 and moved to Heron, Montana as a child. She would attend school in both Heron and Noxon, Montana. She married Dave McKinney, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on January 11, 1956. She would follow her husband’s Army career for 21 years, living throughout the United States and in many foreign countries. Glenda raised the children and kept the family together while working as a telephone operator and as a cashier for K-Mart.
The family returned to Sandpoint in 1975, later moving to North Dakota, the Yakima area, and Alaska living in Anchorage and Seward. She was known as the “frequent flyer” by her family, coming home to visit as often as possible. She would move back to Seattle and then to Toppenish, Washington in 2002, where she would live out her life.
Her family was her life, she enjoyed being a Mom to her family and anyone else that needed a Mom. Her hobby was collecting “old” country magazines, pictures, stories and recipes. She enjoyed singing Country Gospel with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, of 61 years, Dave McKinney in Toppenish, Washington; her children Dave (and Lori) McKinney, Jr in Portland, Oregon; Kandy (and John) Schendel in Newcastle, Washington; three grandchildren Brian McKinney; Mandy and Melanie Schendel; one great grandchild Zaydie McKinney; her brothers Larry Kardokus, Bill Kardokus and Ron Kardokus; her sisters Sue Kardokus and Dixie Fisher; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Sunshine Kardokus, and two brothers Kenneth Goforth and Blackie Goforth.
