Evaline K Johnson

Evaline Kealiikaapuni Johnson, 84, of California, former Sandpoint resident died Nov. 17, 2009 at her home in California. She was born Sept. 13, 1925 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She met Walter Wayne Johnson in Hawaii while he was stationed with the US Navy. They were married on Sept. 11, 1943 and she moved to the Johnson family farm in Bonner County, Idaho until the end of the war. While living in Idaho she graduated from Sandpoint High School in the mid 1940’s. After a few years Walt went back into the Navy as a career man and they moved to National City, California where she lived until her death. Eva worked as a nurse’s aide at Scripps Memorial Hospital in LaJolla, CA until her retirement in the early 1980’s. She went on numerous tours traveling extensively to the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, China, South Korea, and Japan and all over America. She is survived by 1 sister: Nani; 4 children: Frank, Bonnie, Barbara, David; 11 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walt; 1 daughter Gale Marie Johnson; 2 grandsons: Jonathon Goff, Ricardo Castillo; and 1 granddaughter Christine Goff. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 24, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ in Bonita, CA. Interment took place in the Rosecrans National Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Evaline K.
