Mildred H. Moreland

Mildred H. Moreland, 93, Sandpoint, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at Bonner General Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00AM, Saturday, at Coffelt Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jon Pomeroy, officiating. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Mildred was born July 8, 1916 in Banner County, Nebraska the daughter of John and Cecil Dunn. She was raised and educated in LaGrange, Wyoming, graduating at the age of 16. In her late teens she went to San Francisco and attended secretarial school. She then moved to Washington, DC and worked in the Pentagon during World War II. While there she married Wayne Lacey. After the war Mildred moved to Cheyenne, WY where she worked for the State of Wyoming Dept. of Health and Welfare. In 1952 she moved to Sandpoint, and met Watt Moreland at KSTP where he was a radio announcer. They were married in Sandpoint in 1954. Mildred worked as a secretary at KSTP, and later at the hospital for 35 years, retiring at the age of 87. She enjoyed reading, and doing crossword puzzles, but the joy of her life was her family. She is survived by 3 children: Sherri (Taz) McKinney, Richard Lacey, Bob (Jody) Moreland all of Sandpoint; by 5 grandchildren: Lee Lacey, Karry Hegstad, Scott Hegstad, Christine Moreland, Traci Moreland; and 10 great grandchildren: She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981, and by 3 brothers. The family suggests memorials to Toys for Tots % John Hunt, PO Box 62, Ponderay, ID 83862 or a charity of choice.
