Clara Harriett Hills, 73, of Sandpoint, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at Huckleberry Retirement Center.
She was raised and attended schools in New York. She married Lawrence Darlin in New York, and they were later divorced. She moved to Los Angeles in 1962 where she worked in the film industry with the Disney Company. In the late 60’s she moved to Sandpoint. She married Alan VanEtten and they later divorced. Clara worked for many years as a hostess and cashier for Mitzy’s 5th Ave Restaurant.
Clara attended New Song Bible Church, and enjoyed crocheting for the Luke Commission, a missionary organization in Africa.
She is survived by her son: Mark Darlin of Ponderay, ID; 1 granddaughter Mariah L. Darlin of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, 1 grandson: Robert J. Darlin of Calgary; 1 great grandson: Dennis Ray Robert Darlin of Calgary; 3 sisters: Alberta Cook of Colorado, Carolyn Bernstein of Florida, Linda Cutting of New York; 4 brothers: Blair Hills of Pennsylvania, Chuck Hills of New Mexico, Walt Hills of Florida, and John Hills of New York; and by her church family and many many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother.
At Clara’s request private inurnment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Park following cremation.
