Nancy Colleen Crabb of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, passed away after her brief, courageous battle with cancer. She died at home on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at the young age of 70 surrounded by her husband, Theodore Crabb and her family. Nancy was born in Dover, Idaho, on December 6, 1939, to Darrell and Mary Perry. Nancy grew up in Dover and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1958. After graduation, she worked at The Bootery in Sandpoint for several years and retired from Sandpoint Super Drug. She married her first husband, Frank Chapin, in 1960 and had three boys, Dean, Darrell, and Russell. Nancy and her current husband, Theodore Crabb, married in 1982, and Nancy’s family grew by three grown children; Carla, John, and Jarrett. Nancy and Ted meet at the Eagles Club during a dance where Ted was the drummer in the band that was performing that evening, and Nancy was hooked. They made their first home in Sandpoint and settled in Bonners Ferry in 1993. Nancy was active in the community and served as Past President of the Sandpoint Eagles Auxiliary and Past President of the Rainbow Chasers of North Idaho RV Club. She was a member of a local Stamper Club and the Country Women’s Club. Nancy and Ted were RV enthusiasts and enjoyed camping with family and friends. Nancy was an avid, expert Stamper and her cards are works of art that are cherished by those who received them. She had a passion for crocheting, and learning new craft mediums including woodworking, ceramics, and tole painting. When it came to garage sales, Nancy was the first in line and found many treasures. She enjoyed playing Bunco, and was frequently with friends lunching and exploring new things. Nancy attended Free Methodist Church and found comfort in her faith. Nancy is survived by her husband, Ted Crabb; son Dean Chapin, wife Terri of Woodland, California and grandsons Christopher and Cody; son Darrell Chapin, wife Christell of Post Falls, Idaho, grandsons Bryce and Ryan, and granddaughter Courtney; son Russell Chapin of HooDoo Valley, Idaho; stepdaughter Carla Crabb-Laws, husband Steve of Orofino, Idaho, granddaughter Heather, and grandson Ryan; stepson John Crabb of Anchorage, Alaska and grandson Cory; stepson Jarrett Crabb of Sandpoint, Idaho; sister Wauneta Zanto of Dover, Idaho; sister Arlene Kalb and husband Bob of Sandpoint, Idaho; sister Dolores Herman and husband Wayne of Kalispell, Montana; sister-in-law Evelyn Perry of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; sister-in-law Marj Tilly of Sandpoint, Idaho; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends and extended family. Nancy’s life journey was preceded by her parents Mary and Darrell, brothers Huey, Dave, and Paul, stepdaughter-in-law Sandy, and brother-in-law Art. In celebration of Nancy’s life, memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s name to the American Cancer Society, 2676 Vista Avenue, Boise, ID, 83705. With your donation, include Nancy’s name and the name and address of who and where you would like the donation acknowledgement sent. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Coffelt Funeral Service, 109 North Division Avenue, Sandpoint, Idaho, at 2:00 pm. Friends and family may visit Nancy at Coffelts Monday, January 18th, between 3pm – 6pm and Tuesday, January 19th, 9am until service time.
