Rosaline “Rose” E. Wilson, 89, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 in Kootenai, Idaho of natural causes.
Memorial services will be conducted 3:00PM, Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010 at the Sandpoint Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Matthew Lombard, officiating.
Rose was born July 20, 1920 in Vallejo, CA, the daughter of Emery Edward and Elva Ferrari Cota, and was raised in Vallejo. She met Emery Wilson in Vallejo in 1935 while attending high school there, and they were married on June 25, 1939. The couple moved to Sandpoint, Idaho with their two children in August of 1946.
Rose worked for attorney Steve Bystine as legal secretary, as secretary at the Sandpoint vocational rehabilitation office, and retired from the Bonner County School District as Administrative Assistant.
She was a member of the Sandpoint Seventh-Day Adventist Church for a number of years. She also did volunteer work for the school. Rose was lovingly referred to as “the can lady” by many. She faithfully spent years canvassing the southern neighborhoods of Sandpoint on foot from her home on South Division picking up aluminum cans and donating them to the Washington Elementary School.
She is survived by her three sons: Sam (Patti) Wilson of Sagle, Jerry (Donna) Wilson of Ponderay, and Mike (Kathy) Wilson of Spokane, WA; two daughters: Carol (Jim) Ward of Priest River, and Bonnie (Randy) Kemp of Hayden, ID; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; and 1 sister: Anita Ascuena of Jackson, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband Emery Wilson, and 1 brother Elmer Cota and her parents.
