Laurel Ann Wagers

September 12, 1948 — February 13, 2010

Laurel Ann Wagers, 61, of Sandpoint, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at Life Care of Coeur ‘d Alene. She was born Sept. 12, 1948 in Spokane, WA, the daughter of Joseph and Margery Pratt. As a child she lived in Alaska and Sandpoint where she graduated high school in 1964. She then attended Michigan State University where she received a degree in journalism. In the mid 1970’s she returned to Sandpoint and held a number of jobs. She worked at the Daily Bee, the Sandpoint Library, Coldwater Creek, and most recently as Managing Editor at Multilingual Computing. Laurel was one of three women who spearheaded the drive to restore the Panida Theater and later served on the Theatre’s Board of Directors. She served on the board of the East Bonner County Library and was thrilled to see the move to the new building. A published author, Laurel was a creative tour de force. She appeared in many productions with the Unicorn Theatre, provided musical support to several church in the area and loved drawing and painting. She also reveled in the opportunity to travel afforded her through her work at Multilingual Publishing. She is survived by her son: Lee (Stephanie) Wagers of Eugene, OR, 3 grandchildren: Aidan, Morgan, Paige; her mother: Margery Pratt; and by 2 brothers: Greg (Kim) Pratt of Spokane, WA, and Mark (Sherri) Pratt of Anchorage, AK. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Pratt. Memorial services for Laurel will be conducted 1:00PM, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Coffelt Funeral Chapel. The family suggests memorials to the Panida Theater 300 N. 1st Ave, Sandpoint, ID 83864, Friends of East Bonner County Library, 1407 Cedar St., Sandpoint, Idaho or Angels Over Sandpoint.
