Elmer Westly John, 77, of Clark Fork, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Spokane.
He was born August 13, 1932 in Modesto, CA the son of Clarence and Anna Fisher John. He was raised in Escalon, CA where he attended school and graduated. He was drafted into the Army where he served 2 years active duty during the Korean War. He remained in the reserves until 1961.
In March of 1957 he married Zelda Wheeler at Modesto and they remained there until 1960 when they moved to Placerville, CA. In 1976 they returned to Modesto and in 1994 they moved to Clark Fork, ID.
Elmer enjoyed model trains and camping. He also collected wagon parts, which somehow never seemed to be put together.
He was an active member of the Assembly of God Church first in Placerville and at Sandpoint when they moved to north Idaho.
He is survived by his wife Zelda of Clark Fork; 3 children: Paula (Ron) Young of Pocatello, ID, Wesley (Lois) John of Clark Fork, Starla (Bob) Bowers of Clark Fork; 5 grandchildren: Kevin, Cody, Jennifer, Josh, Steve; and by 4 great grandchildren: Kyndal, Kezie, Alasya, Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Memorial services will be conducted 1:00PM, Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Sandpoint Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Brian Noble, officiating. Military rites will follow by the Bonner County area Veterans.
