Tim Nelson Taylor, 61, died peacefully at his ranch in Heron, MT, March 8, 2010 after a long battle with cancer.
Tim will be remembered for how he loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed being with friends and family. Tim was also an avid baseball (especially the Braves) and Packer fan.
Tim was born in La Crosse WI, the son of Arleen Baker and George Taylor. He grew up on French Island, attended Summit Elementary and graduated from Logan High School (class of ’68). After graduation Tim enlisted in the Marines and fought in Vietnam. He then joined and retired from the Air Force. After his retirement he was able to pursue his life long dream of moving to Montana, where he worked for the post office and eventually built his dream house at the base of the Bitteroot Mountains.
He is survived by his five children, Tim (Jill) of Onalaska, WI, Jim (Mandi) of La Crosse, WI, Steve (Julie Butler) of Hokah, MN, Katie (Justin) Drury of Rochester, MN, and Colt of Springfield, NE; 8 grandchildren Jake, Alex, Halle, Ava, Sierra, Alivia, Candace, and Ruby (on the way); mother Arleen and Stepfather Charles Baker; two brothers, Randy (Jane) Taylor and Chip (Jamie) Baker; sister, Jane (Jim) Harrison; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his father George Taylor and former wife Candace (Melbo) Taylor.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Olivet Lutheran Church. Following the service, there will be a military burial at Dresbach Cemetery. A celebration of Tim’s life will take place at the American Legion on French Island following the burial.
At his request, his body will be cremated and his ashes are to be scattered in a number of locations that were special to him.
