Edward Ernest “Ed” Olson, 92, of Bonners Ferry, former Ponderay resident passed away from this life on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Boundary Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00AM, Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Coffelt Funeral Chapel with Pastor Don Kramer, officiating. Private interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
He was born Sept. 26, 1917 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho the son of Edward and Ella Olson. He was raised in Dover with his two sisters, Ruth and Evelyn and three brothers, Cliff, Elmer, and Willie. He attended schools in both Dover and Sandpoint. He served in Civilian Conservation Corps camps near Avery, Idaho for two years. He worked for the Forrest Service for a couple of years and later owned his own truck and hauled logs for many years. In the early 1970’s he was injured in a logging accident and retired.
Ed married Pheobe Gognon in 1938. After Pheobe died he married Lois Orr in 1961.
Ed enjoyed his 1947 GMC pickup, and visiting friends. Ed was also a 50 year member of the Eagles.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Gail Olson and Dorine Doyle both of Naples, ID, Jane (Dick) Watts of Kalispell, MT; 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives; 1 daughter: Edna Queen; 3 brothers: Elmer, Clifford, William, and by 2 sisters: Ruth Oliver and Evelyn Perry, and by 2 grandsons: Alec Doyle and Ed Wilson and 1 great grandson Dustin Dodge.
