Harry E - "Ed" Wesselman Sr.

d. June 2, 2010

Harry “Ed” Edwin Wesselman Sr., passed away peacefully at his home on June 2, 2010. Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 1:00 pm in Coffelt Funeral Chapel. Dale Coffelt will be officiating. A celebration of life will follow at the VFW hall on Pine Street. Ed was born October 24, 1934 to William and Bertha Wesselman in Sandpoint. He spent his youth in Sandpoint, Lethbridge, Alberta and Sacramento. Ed married Paddy Chubb December 4, 1954. They had five children – Ed Jr., Jim, Tammy, Dougie and Cyndi. As a teenager, Ed lived with his sisters at different times. He would work with his brother-in-law “Bud” Smith on Logging Jobs. Finding his passion for the woods and outdoors, making this his life occupation. He often worked for Bill Neu and Russell Oliver logging. Ed worked briefly as a car salesman for the Hiatt family. Fred Kennedy employed him often; Ed worked at digging the natural gas line in Sandpoint with Fred. He was forced to retire early due to health issues. As a Sandpoint native, he enjoyed his life long relationship with several friends, whom were so comforting during his last years. They were so wonderful about stopping by or a phone call. This always brightened Ed’s day. Ed had strong opinions on “his politics” and the changes to his beloved hometown. He often voiced them. Ed’s greatest accomplishment, which he shared with Paddy, was being a friend and parent to their son, Dougie. Whom he now joins on the otherside. Ed enjoyed a good bull session, poker games, gambling jaunts, fishing, pheasant hunts, gardening, making a “load of wood” and grandchildren and great grands. During Ed’s final years he was deeply cared for by his wife, children and the hospice staff, which created several new friendships. The family is very greatful to them all. Ed is survived by his wife Paddy; children Ed Jr., Jim, Tammy Kramer and Cyndi Sutliff (Mike Fisher) all of Sandpoint; granddaughters Toffer (Jeff) Wise, Kayla (Wes) Felts, and Keila (Rob) Guercio; grandsons Derek, T.J. (Star) Loosmore, and Mason (Chelsie) Wesselman; great granddaughters Shaylynn, Peyton, Tessa, Emma and Ryiely; great grandsons Jaggier, Skylar, Avery and Titus. By July expecting Jordan and Baily, a sister Ruth Smith and brother Bill (Darla) Wesselman. Brother-in-law Smokey (Freda) Chubb. Numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins. Ed is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mertle, Julie Cramer Blomstrom and Dorothy Smith; son-in-law Russ Kramer and son Dougie Wesselman.
