Alice Mader was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 3, 1927. She
was one of 13 children born to Philomena and William P. Oswald of Allison Park, Pennsylvania. Alice passed away peacefully in Sandpoint early
Tuesday morning, June 8.
Alice married James L. Mader after his return from World War II in June,
1947. James passed away in Youngstown, Ohio on June 14, 1998. Alice is
survived by her son James Mader (Linda) of Torrance, California, daughter
Patricia Bower (Edward Williams) of Christiana, Pennsylvania, daughter
Mary Berryhill (Mark) of Sandpoint, Idaho. She has seven grandchildren,
Amy Kenyon (Josh), Calvin Mader, Dyann Mader, George Bubenheim (Amy), Jim Bubenheim (Amy), Julie Johnson (Greg), and Theresa O'Connor. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Addie Johnson, Aiden Johnson, Brandon Bubenheim, Brooklyn Bubenheim, and Parker Bubenheim and Javier. Alice has three surviving sisters, Edna Burnett, Dorie Broeker and Elsie Klinger of Allison Park, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by close friends Richard Bower, Ann Gingras and Helen Cathey.
Shortly after Alice and James were married they moved to southern
California where they raised their three children. While in California,
Alice and James became involved with the Knights of Columbus where they
made many life-long friends. When James passed away, Alice moved back east to be closer to her many family members. When she became ill, she moved here to Sandpoint.
Alice's family would like to give a special thank you to Life Care Center of Sandpoint for the quality care they gave to her. The staff there is deeply appreciated.
Funeral arrangements have been made in the care of Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Family services will be held at King's Funeral Home in
Hampton, Pennsylvania.
