Irene M. Withers

Irene M. Withers, 83, of Athol, Idaho passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Kootenai Medical Center. She was born Dec. 29, 1926 at home in Fairfield, Nebraska, the daughter of Lloyd and Ivy Shreffler. She moved with her family to Southern Idaho in 1939. She married Fred Radonski in 1950. Their daughter Loreen was born in 1951, and Dinah Raye in 1953. Fred was killed in a construction accident in August of 1957. In 1958 she married Buster Withers in Elko, NV. Their daughter Pilar was born in 1959. The family moved to Sandpoint in 1968 and they lived here for 34 years until moving to Athol in 2002. While living in Sandpoint Irene volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce, from 1972-73 drove truck between Sandpoint and Moses Lake, WA with her sister-in-law, Loyce Shreffler, worked at Pilar’s restaurant from 1985-1995, and sang at many funerals over the years at Coffelt Funeral Chapel. Irene enjoyed singing, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed days of camping with her family and was a long time member of Church of God. She is survived by her children: Loreen Howard (Rudy Marmon) of Athol, Dinah Raye (Roger) Smith of Athol, Pilar Withers of Sandpoint; her siblings: Maudie (Roger) Garretson, Jane Raynor, Lewie (Marilyn) Shreffler, Kenneth (Loyce) Shreffler, Ivalee Wood; grandchildren: Spencer Rink, Josh Smith, Nathan Howard, Ellery Howard, Clay Howard, and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Ivy Shreffler, son-in-law: Richard Howard. A memorial celebration will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the home of Roger and Dinah Raye’s, 30484 N. Lone Moose Trail, Athol, ID. Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 6:00PM at the Athol Cemetery.
