Carol Ann Sargent

Carol Ann (Johnson) Sargent, 64, of Sandpoint, Idaho was born August 4, 1945 at Spokane, Washington; she was the daughter of Bob and Dorothy “Dot” Johnson. Carol passed away April 30, 2010 at the Kootenai Medical Center of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Carol attended and graduated from the Sandpoint High School in 1964; she then attended the University of Idaho. A success in her working life, she was a hotel manager, a realtor and a college instructor. Carol married Joel Sargent on January 13, 1978 at Spokane, Washington. Most of her life was spent outside the area as a wife of a career Naval Officer and later an IBM spouse. Carol and Joel lived in New Orleans, Washington D.C., Seoul, Korea and many years in the San Francisco Bay area. They moved back to Sandpoint in 2007. Carol was a marvelous homemaker, she loved entertaining family and friends. Upon returning to Sandpoint, she was a very active force in bringing dialysis treatment facilities to this area. Carol was a life-long member of the American Legion Auxiliary; she loved and enjoyed gardening and reading. Carol was a woman of indomitable spirit; she lived a full and inspirational life in spite of many physical ailments. She is survived by her husband Joel Sargent of Sandpoint, Idaho; a step-son Gregory Sargent of Brunswick, Maine; a step-daughter Jeanne of Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren; her father Robert L. Johnson of Sandpoint, Idaho, a sister Sandy Johnson of Sandpoint, Idaho; two brothers Steve Johnson of Umatilla, Oregon and Thomas Johnson of Sagle, Idaho. A fifth generation Sandpoint girl, she has numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends in the area. Carol was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy “Dot” Johnson. Graveside services for Carol will be conducted 11:00AM, Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Immediately following the services there will be a reception at the VFW Hall, 1325 Pine Street. The Family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the National Kidney Foundation or to the Mark Twain Museum.
