Mearlene Kassebaum, 84 of Sandpoint died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Bonner General Hospital. Graveside services for Mearlene will be conducted 1:00PM, Monday, August 9, 2010 at Pack River Cemetery, with Pastor Harvey Riffle, officiating. Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Chapel on Monday from 8:00AM-11:00AM. She was born January 6, 1926 in Beaver Dam, Indiana the daughter of Merl and Blanche Engle. She was raised and educated in Warsaw, Indiana. She was married to Joseph Kassebaum on June 30, 1946 in Winona Lake, Indiana. As her husband was in the U.S. Marine Corps they lived in 8 different states prior to moving to Sandpoint in 1978 from Oceanside, CA. Mearlene was involved in the banking industry and served as Vice President of Oceanside National Bank. She is survived by her loving husband: Joseph Kassebaum of Sandpoint; 2 children: JoEllen Kassebaum of San Diego, CA, Bruce A. Kassebaum of Vista, CA; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by 1 brother.
