Frances P. Davis

Frances P. Davis passed away at her home in Sandpoint on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the age of 99 years. A celebration and memorial service will be held at the Elks club on Saturday, August 21 at 3:00pm. The family suggests donations be made to Bonner Community Hospice, PO Box 1448 Sandpoint, ID; the United Methodist Church, 711 Main, in Sandpoint; the Inland NW Chapter of MS, 818 Sharp, Spokane, WA 99202 or Lost in the 50’s, 215 S. Second Ave., Sandpoint, ID. Frances was born in Spokane on April 4, 1911 to Otto and Sadie Brown Loacker. She attended Audubon Grade School and graduated from North Central High School. After graduation she attended Kinman Business College in Spokane and worked for D.L. Jones as a secretary before moving to Sandpoint in 1930. Frances came to Sandpoint as an employee with the Forest Service and worked for them until 1936. She married Lloyd James “Bud” Davis in June of 1936 and they made Sandpoint their home except for the years 1940-1945 when they lived in Chicago. Frances and Bud were married 42 years until his death in 1978. Together they had a son, Bill and a daughter, Sally. Frances loved her community and volunteered for many organizations, including Lost in the 50’s, Festival at Sandpoint, C.A.L. and Junior Miss. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of Chapter V, P.E.O. In 2002, Frances was honored to be chosen a Women of Wisdom. She enjoyed the many friendships she made throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, “Bud”, son, Bill, sister, Irene and brother, Bob. She is survived by her daughter, Sally (Bill) Transue, grandson, Doug (Denise) Davis and great grandsons: Kellen and Nathan Davis of Moscow, ID; nephews: Jack (Lynn) Loacker and Jim (Susan) Loacker of Portland and her second “kid”, Carolyn R. Gleason. Frances’s family thanks her caregivers, Jennifer Ball and Ellen Weissman for their devotion and tender care these last few years.
