John Allen Hudon, 93, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010. The Vigil Rosary service will be at 7:00 PM, Monday, Sept. 13th, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, Sept. 14th, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Father Bob Lilly will be officiating and interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Monday, September 13th from 12 noon until 6:00 PM in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. John was born September 8, 1916 in Sandpoint to Leon and Catherine (Frank) Hudon. He grew up on a farm on the Great Northern road and attended the Great Northern School until the end of eighth grade. He then worked on the dairy farm with his family for several years. He participated in the CCC program, in Clarkia, Idaho, when he became eligible during the depression. At the age of 18 he began a job at a pole producing company, a job that he remained in until the age of 65. His duties included pole inspecting and crane operation. John married Lucille Goulette in Sandpoint in 1939. They had three children, and resided on a small farm on North Boyer Avenue. Lucille passed away in 1996 after 56 years of marriage to John. In 2001 John sold the farm and moved to Sandpoint where he lived with his daughter, Gen. John was a lifelong member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Sandpoint. He was an active participant in the Knights of Columbus and a member for over 50 years. He served as Grand Knight for three years and in many other offices over the term of his membership. John was also a member of the Eagles Lodge in Sandpoint for over 50 years. He was especially active during his time of retirement where he served in many offices, earning the rank of Past Worthy President. He was also very active in ritual competition where he received many awards over the years. He continued in that capacity until the last few years of his life. His passion was raising money, through the lodge, for local youth projects. John was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Catherine, a half brother, Lester Bruder, twin sister, Dorothy Gooby, sister Pearl Munger, sister Irene Hudon, brother Joe Hudon; a baby brother Dennis and a baby sister Helen. John is survived by 3 children Donald (and Deanna) Hudon of Harlem, Montana; Victor (and Mary) Hudon of Lewiston, Idaho; and Genevieve Becker of Sandpoint. He has 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, and 2 great great great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church building fund, or a charity to help children, in memory of John Hudon.
