Bernadine Christina Kossman, 92, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Thursday, Sept. 16th, in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Elder Bob Hovanski will be conducting.
Calling hours will be at Coffelt Funeral Service on Thursday Sept. 16th, from 9:00 AM until 12 noon.
Bernadine Christina Normington was born April 29, 1918, the daughter of Ernest A and Laura (Dahlberg) Normington at Moscow, Idaho. She attended, and graduated from, the Moscow School System. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
On June 20, 1936 she married Robert Kossman and they made their home in the Lower Yakima Valley near the tri-cities. She worked at Prosser Memorial Hospital for 11 years. In 1967 she moved to Garfield Bay and in 1987 moved into Sandpoint. She worked for both Garfield Bay Water and Sewer District and the Bottle Bay Water and Sewer District.
She was active in AARP, serving in all of the offices. For 4 years she was assistant State Director and then State Director for 4 years. She was a member of the Friday Night Owls Bowling League, the Panhandle Piecemakers Quilt Guild, and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by 3 children Elvira “Vi” Gibson of Sandpoint; Loretta Swanson of Kennewick, WA; Deloy ( and Dianna) Kossman of Prosser, WA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren including Lynette Carlson of Moscow, ID; and great great grandchildren; brother Dewayne Normington of Hay, WA; Sister in law Shirley Normington of Potlach, ID; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, a sister, and her husband.
