Bill Sellmer went home to be with his Lord, Friday, October 22, 2010 in Heron, Montana.
Bill was born in Hay Springs, Nebraska on December 19, 1926 and was raised in Heron, Montana. He left briefly several times in his youth to find work elsewhere, but he always returned to the town he loved.
In September of 1945 at his parent’s ranch in Heron he married his grade school sweetheart Stella Tempero. This September they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Bill is survived by his wife Stella; 5 daughters: Irene Anderson of Thompson Falls, MT, Darlene Stover of Noxon, MT, Sandra Sellmer of Spokane, WA, Ginger Hageman and Diane Marich both of Heron, MT; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Bill tried his hand at farming, working for the railroad, driving taxi, but his love was for logging. He owned his own business for over 65 years. He continued to work in the woods that he loved until he retired at the age of 83 because of cancer.
Bill was known for his honesty, integrity, his live for his wife, devotion to his family and caring for widows and those less fortunate than he. He was a man of great grace; he would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it more than he did. He was man of God, an avid Bible student, and taught adult Sunday school for many years at the Solid Rock church and the Methodist Church in Heron. Bill was an elder in New Life Fellowship in Thompson Falls for 16 years. When New Life Fellowship built their new facility Bill drove 100 miles each day to help in the construction of the new building. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 30th at 1:00PM Mountain Time at New Life Fellowship in Thompson Falls, MT. There will be a dinner following the service and everyone is invited. A graveside service will be held at the Heron Cemetery following the dinner.
The Heron Methodist Church will have coffee and cookies after the graveside for those who would like a time of fellowship.
