Frederick L. Yanik, Sr. 76, passed away in Sandpoint, ID on Tuesday, December 14, 2010.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 18th, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Pastor Jon Pomeroy, Sandpoint Church of God, will be officiating.
The son of Rose Ann (Perry) and Joseph Paul Yanik, Fred was born on May 26, 1934 in Numine, Pennsylvania. He married Phyllis Smith on November 19, 1955 in Bear Lake, Pennsylvania.
Fred worked for Proto Tool Company for years and then served his country in the US Army. He served a stint as Chief of Police in Bear Lake, PA before moving to Simi Valley, California. While living in Simi Valley he worked for General Motors Corporation for 25 years and ran a sweeping service on the side. He retired to Sandpoint, Idaho in 1994.
Fred was preceded in passing by his parents, three brothers Stanley, Carl, and Richard and his wife, Phyllis.
Fred is survived by a sister Victoria “Tootsie”, and three brothers Robert, Richard “Uncle Dick”, and Frank “Muzzy”. Fred is also survived by his three children Fred Jr. (Jackie) at Clark Fork; Tamara (Tony) in Portland; and Anthony “Tony” (Brenda Smith) in Sandpoint; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
