Cheyenne Rae Carpenter, 56, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2006 at her home in Elmira, Id. Her partner will be hosting a family and friends visitation at their home in Elmira on Saturday, December 30, 2006 from 12 to 3 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Panhandle Animal Shelter, 1604 Great Northern Rd., Sandpoint, Idaho 83864 or Lifetime Friends Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 54, Careywood, Idaho 83809. Cheyenne was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on May 13, 1950. She attended Hancock College in Santa Maria, CA and was active in the theatre group. Cheyenne graduated from the San Francisco Culinary Academy and was a chef in several of the Bay area’s finest restaurants. In the late 1980’s she took a position at San Quentin Prison overseeing the food preparation for the facility. In 1991 Cheyenne was involved in a major auto accident that left her partially disabled. She moved to Tomales, CA. and then to Sandpoint in 1999. She is survived by her life partner of 18 years, Anna Gallo of Sandpoint, her father, Harley Carpenter of Santa Maria, CA; her sisters Caren DeBruhl of Mesa, AZ; Connie Biely and Cindy Carpenter Jorde of Santa Maria, CA and her nieces Michelle Matthews of Mesa, Az, Erica Zavalla and Jillian Jorde of Santa Maria, CA, and nephews Doug DeBruhl and Shanus Jorde of Santa Maria, CA, and her canine boys, Sam and Harley of Sandpoint. Cheyenne had great love for family and the outdoors. She enjoyed observing the wildlife on their property in Elmira and going fishing. She enjoyed debating and philosophical discussions. Cheyenne was a successful recovering alcoholic for the past 19 years, of which she and her family were proud.
