Alan Earl Roach

June 12, 1942 — May 23, 2018

On May 23, 2018 Alan Earl Roach passed on to Glory peacefully at home surrounded by family who love and miss him dearly. With support of family and friends, Alan had fought stage IV prostate cancer, telling any male who’d listen to get a PSA test!

After joining the Navy Alan met and proposed to Jeannie Robertson before shipping off to Viet Nam on the U.S.S. Hancock. He later married the love of his life and worked hard providing a good life for his family. He served his country honorably for 20 years before retiring from the Navy.

Devoted to his beliefs Alan lived a life of service dedicated to his Heavenly Father, family, country and community. He always had time to help anyone in need – and in true Irish form, a story to tell while he did!

A proud patriot Alan diligently wrote his government representatives about important matters. He spoke out at meetings and voiced the truth. He shared his patriotic passion with local teens through involvement in VFW scholarships. His heart and ministry were for his fellow Veterans, serving them as VFW Chaplain, Commander and Jr. and Sr. Vice Commander. He gave selflessly of himself forever changing lives for the better!

Alan was happiest surrounded by his family especially when it included hunting, fishing, a musical or his grandchildren!

Those who knew him well knew a tenderhearted, sentimental and fiercely loyal man who loved musicals, watching Dancing with the Stars and reruns of Hallmark movies!

Alan leaves an amazing legacy of selflessness, passion and loving devotion.

Alan leaves behind his wife of 54 years Jeannie, daughter (Michalle) Shelli (Joe) Capelli, daughter-in-law Julie, grandchildren Justin (Bekie), Terry Jr. (Annalee), and Danielle, mother Ruth, brother Michael (Carol), niece Kristin (Brian) Johnson and great-grandchildren Jaylee and Ryan.

Those welcoming him to his heavenly home include his father Earl and son Terry.

Join us to celebrate Alan’s life 4PM, June 21st at Living Waters Church in Clark Fork, Idaho, followed by a potluck and sharing of love, laughter and stories 5-7PM at the Clark Fork Senior Center.

A small graveside service is being planned for the Westport Cemetery in California (hopefully July).

Instead of flowers Alan would have appreciated donations be made to Disabled American Veterans or Community Cancer Services in Sandpoint.
