Barbara Lee (Kramer) Sphar, 85, passed away peacefully in Wenatchee, WA, on October 24, 2018, just one day short of her 86th birthday. Barbara will be remembered for her quiet faith, beautiful smile, strength in adversity, excellent organizational skills, and the pleasure she took in crafting, sewing, drawing, and love for her family.
She was born on October 25, 1932, to Charles and Myrtle Kramer in Jordan, MT. During the war, the family moved to Layton, UT, where her father worked at the Hill Field Air Force Base in radar development for war defense. They settled in Sandpoint, ID, joining Myrtle's parents, Tom and Eron Rainey, brothers: Francis and Frank, and sister, Ruth Keyser, where they operated Kramer's TV and Radio for many years. Barbara graduated from Sandpoint Senior High School with the class of 1950.
Barbara married Bob Sphar on November 12, 1950. They raised four children: Debbie, Dana, Deena, and Dallas, in and around Sandpoint, ID, Spokane, WA, Pentleton, OR, and Othello, WA.
She was a homemaker and spent her time with her children making beautiful ruffled dresses for her daughters, handsome jackets for her son, and western shirts for all. She was a woman of many talents: crafting, leather tooling, and gardening, were just a few. She had a real knack for painting and beautifying her homes. While raising their children, Bob worked in the horse and cattle industry, ranching, and rodeoing.
Barbara is survived by her daughters: Debbie Sphar of Wenatchee, WA, Dana Sphar of Drummond, MT; son, Dallas (Jody) Sphar of Walla Walla, WA; brother, Jerry Kramer of Boise, ID; sisters: Roma "Kikie" North, Martha (Gene) Hollenbeck, and Carol (Kim) Anderson, all of Spokane, WA. She has 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deena Jahns; and brother, Russ Kramer.
Barbara will be laid to rest at a private graveside service, at Pinecrest Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.coffeltfuneral.com. Coffelt Funeral Home, Sandpoint, ID, is assisting with arrangements.
Barbara's Celebration of Life will be Monday, November 5, 11 am, at the Edgewater Inn in Sandpoint.Visits: 2
