Brian Lee Harvey

February 7, 1962 — January 22, 2020

Brian Lee Harvey died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Born February 7, 1962 in Grand Forks, ND to the late William Harvey and Millie Lee Smith. He grew up in the Grand Forks, ND area and later moved to Montana. He graduated from MSU in Bozeman, MT in 1990. He was presently living in Sandpoint, ID.

Brian moved to North Idaho and got his real estate license in 1994. He became one of the most highly respected and top agents in the northern three counties. He served as a volunteer leader on the Selkirk Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors and the Kaniksu Land Trust Board of Directors.

To say that Brian was big into the outdoors is an understatement. His passions included fishing, hunting and golfing; pretty much anything to do with the outdoors. His freezer would be filled with moose, elk, venison, king salmon, walleye and veggies from his garden. He spent thousands of hours fishing Lake Pend Oreille for trophy rainbow trout, mackinaw trout, and bass (his largest bass a six and a half pound smallie).

Even though he was a very private individual, he was an extremely generous and giving person. He volunteered his time and energy to many local endeavors. He was passionate about the Pine Street Woods Project, the annual food drives, and the REALTORS®’s scholarship fund drives.

He was a devoted father of two children, Gunnar Lee Harvey (Sandpoint, ID) and Gracie Leola Harvey (Montana). He is survived by his children, his mother Millie Lee Smith (Bemidji, MN), sister Debbie Sauskojus (East Grand Forks, MN), brother Peter Harvey (Minneapolis, MN), nieces Kaila Blanton (San Antonio, TX), Brooke Sauskojus (Minneapolis, MN), and Whitney Sauskojus (Fargo, ND), several aunts, uncles, and his special friend & partner Aida Mahler (Sandpoint, ID).

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, January 28th at 11:00 am at Coffelt Funeral Home, Sandpoint, ID with a “A Celebration of Life” to follow at North Summit Church (both located on North Division Street).

A memorial service & burial is planned for Brian Lee Harvey, and his aunt Thelma Lee Frovarp in the spring of 2020 at the Bygland Lutheran Church, south of East Grand Forks, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be given to Bygland Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund at 40976-235th St SW, Fisher, Minnesota 56723-9317 or you can visit their website at https://www.fisherbygland.org/.
