Charles M. Coen III, 77, passed away in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Charlie was born on January 31st, 1940 in Teaneck, New Jersey. Charlie graduated from Leonia High School in NJ in 1957. He attended the State University of New York at Delhi and received a Degree of Associates in Applied Science Major in Agriculture. He spent a short time in the US Army Reserves after college. On March 24th, 1964 he married the love of his life Teresa Marcheso in Kinnelon, NJ. They lived in New Jersey and New York, having six of their seven daughters there. Charlie and Teresa had a dream of moving out west. That opportunity came in 1977, when on the advice of a close friend, the family packed up and moved to the small town of Laclede sight unseen. The family instantly loved this area and many Sundays were spent packing up the girls and taking drives and hikes, enjoying our beautiful area. Charlie began working for Litehouse in the spring of 1986. He stayed with the company until his retirement in September of 2014. Charlie was known as an easy-going, gentle soul with an enthusiastic sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Charlie had the best stories to share about his youth with all those who loved him. He also enjoyed fishing, nature, and taking care of the wildlife on his property. He had a passion for gardening and antiques. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He is survived by his seven daughters Cathy (and Rick) Klontz; Suzy (and Bob) VanDenBerg; Andrea (and Brian) Ward; Dina (and Jody) Brown; Kristi (and Mike) Tomt; Nancy Williams; and Lori (and Dustin) Reichart – All from Sandpoint, ID. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and one sister Betty Anne Saviello from New Jersey. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Agnes, his sister Pat Porter, and his wife Teresa. The Rosary/vigil service will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Father Dennis C. Day will conduct the services. Interment will be in Pine Crest Memorial Park. A reception will follow at the Sandpoint Community Hall.
