Claire Brouillard, 81, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022, in Ponderay. Funeral servicers will be conducted at 10:00am, Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Deacon Michael Holley, St Joseph’s Catholic Church, will be officiating. Claire was born in 1940 on May 1 in Seattle, the daughter of Clark and Margaret Eckart, joining two sisters. She lived in Seattle, in the Lauralhurst area and went to local schools. When Claire was in the sixth grade the family moved to Edmonds, Washington. She graduated from high school and then went to Whitman College, in Walla Walla, Washington for four years. Following graduation, she accepted a teaching position in Lompoc, California. She met, and married, Julian Brouillard. Their son, Chris was born and the family moved to Sandpoint, Idaho in 1972. Claire taught in the Southside School, other local schools but mainly at the Farmin School. She retired, from teaching, in 1999. She had many great adventures travelling, during the summer months in various countries, and around the world. She was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church. In her retirement she became an active member of the Monday Hikers and was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa for years. She loved her home, enjoyed working in her yard, helping with the cat population and enjoying the pleasures of Sandpoint. She is survived by her son, Chris, in Sacramento, California; sisters Pat Eckart and Marlene Gloege; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
