Daryl Coy Ramey

Hope, Idaho

Daryl Coy Ramey, 87, long time resident of Hope, passed away, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on August 28, 2024.

 

The celebration of Daryl’s life, will begin at noon, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, in the Sam Owen Campground. A reception will be part of the celebration. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00am, Saturday, September 28th, in the Hope Cemetery, Hope, Idaho.

 

Daryl was born on February 18, 1937 in Grangeville, Idaho the son of Claude and Martha Ramey. The family moved to Boise, Idaho, where he graduated, in 1955, from Boise High School. He was captain of the high school golf team, caddied at the local golf course, delivered papers and worked on a mink farm. He also joined, and served with, the US Army National Guard.

 

He graduated from the University of Idaho, in engineering, and worked for the Bureau of Public Roads. He worked, as an engineer, for the Federal Highway Administration. Later he would help engineer the road between Hope, Idaho and Clark Fork, Idaho. He retired, in 1993, and then went to work for the Litehouse Dressing Company, for 10 years. 

 

He met Shirley Proctor, in 1959, and married her on May 20, 1960, in Newport, WA. She served, as the City Clerk of Hope, Idaho for many years, preceding him in death on April 5, 2017. 

 

The family has maintained property, on Trestle Creek, since 1970. Her pulled a 10 foot by 40-foot travel trailer, throughout the Northwest, in his work. 

 

Daryl was an “avid outdoorsman”, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf, playing golf up until the time of his death. He was an avid “Bridge” fan, playing at the Clak Fork Senior Center. He had donated 13 gallons of blood, during his lifetime, to help others live.

 

He is survived by his sons; Todd (and Lynn) Ramey, Kenneth (and Joyce) Ramey, granddaughter Rachel (and Tony), grand son Alex and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are his two sisters, Claudette and Donna, other relatives and many friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, and two sisters Carole and Vicki.
