Deloris Irene Roberson

January 1, 1932 — May 10, 2020

On Sunday, May 10, 2020 Deloris Irene Roberson, loving wife and mother of 5 children passed away at the age of 88 into the loving arms of her God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Deloris was born January 1, 1932 in Dallas, South Dakota to Chuck and Nonna Sommerfeld.  At the age of 16 she met and married her true love and soul mate, George Smith Roberson (who was working for her parents at the time) on April 30, 1948 in Roseburg, Oregon.  They moved to Bonner County in 1950 and raised 5 children, one son, Charley and 4 daughters Connie, Carleen, Lula and Tania.

Deloris loved her home and family immensely and had a passion for family get togethers with delicious meals and lots of homemade desserts.  If you were a friend popping in for a visit, she was always ready to feed you.  She loved music and was a self-taught pianist always playing at family gatherings and also playing in several bands throughout the years.

She was a very industrious and hard-working woman.  While George was working at Safeway she was growing a little side business at home selling raw milk which grew into a large business called George Roberson Dairy selling not only milk and cream but eggs, bread and sweet treats all while gardening, canning, sewing and teaching us kids a good work ethic!

As Deloris got married at the age of 16 not finishing high school, she always felt like she had something missing until she got her GED, in 1984.at the age of 52.  She was so very proud of this and we were too!

Life was not always work and no play.  She loved the “great outdoors” hunting, fishing, camping and vacationing on the Oregon and Washington Coast with George and the family.  Of ALL these fun things her ABSOLUTE passion was fishing and boy oh boy could she out fish anyone, anytime and anywhere.

We are so thankful for the blessings, sorrows and joys of having her as our Mother.  Thankful for her teaching us all about our wonderful Creator Jesus Christ and His Mercy, Grace and Forgiveness towards all.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents Chuck and Nonna Sommerfeld, her brother Norman, her husband George and son Charley.  She is survived by daughters Connie Otto (Eldon), Carleen Roberson (Tim), Lula Osborne (Allen), Tania Roberson, her sister Lana Kay Hanson…. 12 grandchildren and many many great and great great grandchildren.

Family interment services will be held in Pinecrest Memorial Park, with Memorial services to be announced at a later date.  Flowers may be sent to Coffelt Funeral Service and memorials may be made to the Panhandle Animal Shelter.
