Dennis E. Pohle

March 7, 1958 — October 17, 2021

Dennis E. Pohle (age 63), devoted husband and father, died peacefully on October 17th, 2021, at his home in Sandpoint, ID. Dennis was born on March 7th, 1958, in Spokane, WA to Mary and Joseph Pohle. Dennis was raised as a devout Catholic. He attended St Francis Xavier and went on to graduate from Gonzaga Preparatory School in 1976. Dennis worked as a brick mason until he joined and dedicated himself to the City of Spokane Fire Department in 1984, where he served the community at Station 7 and was promoted to Lieutenant. Dennis retired from the fire department in 2011.

He married his beloved and best friend Donna in 1989. They both worked tirelessly until retirement and took pride in watching Allison and Lisa thrive as successful adults. Upon retirement, they relocated to their dream home on the Pack River in Sandpoint, ID. They took immense pleasure in all the outdoor beauty of their new home and thoroughly enjoyed the task of turning it into the home of their dreams through numerous indoor and outdoor renovations.

Dennis was an extremely private person, but happiest building beautiful furniture, landscaping his yard, creating a ‘park’ for his grandchildren to enjoy at his cabin, and listening to classic rock albums. Dennis was competitive by nature, and enjoyed debating everything from sports, politics, and current events. He loved mentoring the younger generation with his carpentry skills, and enjoyed activities with friends and family, such as foosball, hiking, and fishing. He was an athlete who competed throughout his life in softball, football, basketball, volleyball, and soccer, and always loved a cold locally brewed beer. Dennis was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by a countless number of family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Donna Pohle, his daughters Lisa Pruitt (Leroy Jr) and Allison Pohle, grandchildren Leroy III and London Pruitt, brothers Jim Pohle (Kerrie) and Richard Pohle, sisters Mary Jo Victorino (Ricardo) and Shirley Pohle, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and his extended City of Spokane Fire Department family. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Pohle.

There will be an immediate private gravesite burial. A celebration of life will occur in the Spring of 2022, for all friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Dennis to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org/whoyouhelp
