Dennis Fred Porath

Dennis Fred Porath passed away peacefully at his residence in Clark Fork on June 14, 2018 at the age of 83. Dennis was born to Fred and Elizabeth Porath in Minot North Dakota on March 05, 1935.

Dennis worked for Pack River Lumber Company at the Tenex plant in Dover for many years as a mechanic and millwright and later worked in Alaska as a welder and would drive back and forth from Sandpoint on the old Alcan highway which at that time was a dirt road. Prior to retiring Dennis owned and operated Porath Auto and Repair in Kootenai. He enjoyed living in his small house in the woods with his dog Nellie. He had a passion for fishing and loved to fish for pike and would not hesitate to tell you about his adventures. In addition to fishing Dennis was a great hunter and huckleberry picker. When his children were young Dennis would always make time to teach them how to fish and hunt in addition to other outdoor activities. During the 70’s he was an avid stock car racer at the race track in Colburn. Every Saturday was a “fix what we broke last week” endeavor and Sunday was the day he had fun on the track.

Dennis was married to Barbara Porath for 42 years, before divorcing.

Dennis is preceded in death by his father Fred Porath, his mother Elizabeth Porath, his sisters Betty Berger and Phyllis Porath. He is survived by his sons Terry Porath (Nannette) Sagle, Daniel Porath (Haretina) St. Paul Alaska and his Daughter LeAnna Porath of Helena Montana. He is also survived by his Grandchildren: Nickolas Porath, Amy Porath, Amanda Weisz (Casey), Christopher Porath (Tammy),  Aubrey Porath, Daniel Porath Jr, Isiah Porath (Anna)and Great Grandchildren Dagon Rohrich, Daniel Rohrich, Trevor Weisz, Tanner Weisz, Maycie Weisz Tucker Porath, Crissy Porath, Devlin Porath, Tatyana Porath, and Dedrich Porath. Nieces Deed Hall and Nan Berger and his nephew Jon Berger. Brother in law Steve Maxey.

At Dennis’ request there will be no services. He will be missed by all but never forgotten.
