He worked in Oregon and California doing dairy work, milking cows until he moved to Salem, Oregon in 1975 where he met the love of his life, Mary. He had been doing construction work and would occasionally go to a local bar where he would unwind playing pool. Mary also played pool and was on a women’s pool team. The men’s team needed a sub and Doran was available. This was the way they met. They started to go together and he followed Mary to Pocatello to be with her after her mother was widowed. This is where they married in 1976. He worked in a tire re-tred shop until it closed. He then worked for Kings Tire doing OTR service work until they sold out. Then he went to work on a dairy, worked in the janitorial field, lumber mills, did some logging and then went to work for Light House Dressing for 6 years. He was a volunteer fire fighter and helped Mary with her EMT duties on the department as well as going to fires and mutual aids.
He retired due to disability because of his medical conditions in 2006. He is a cancer survivor and had never shied away from any work to support his family. He always would find work.
