Dwan Dean

Dwan Dean, 85, passed away in Coeur d’Alene on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00am, Saturday, February 8, 2020 in the Westmond Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Dwan was born on Sept. 30, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Glenwood and Verena Barnhurst.  The family moved to Southern California and she graduated from high school and the community college in Pomona, California; with an AA degree.  She had managed the “Toy City” toy store, in Brea, California, for many years.

She married James M. Dean on September 21, 1958 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The family lived in Brea, California where she became a homemaker and a mother.  She moved to Careywood, Idaho in 1978.  She enjoyed doing craft projects and sharing her creations with others.  She would raise a large garden, can the produce, then share the fruits of her labor with family and friends.  Sharing and giving were very important to Dwan.

Dwan is survived by two sons James Dean Post Falls and Mark Dean in Sandpoint; her daughter Sherri Dean in Careywood.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and her husband.
