Edward Allen Hendrickson, born May 27, 1941, joined his Lord and Savior on December 6, 2024. Ed was born in Williamstown, WV, to Edward Oliver and Jacqueline Elizabeth Hendrickson who subsequently relocated their family to Eugene, OR after being exposed to the West through service in the Civilian Conservation Corps following the Great Depression. Growing up, Ed served in the US Army and was stationed in France, providing security for Europe in the early days of the Cold War. Upon discharge from the Army, he returned to Oregon and worked in the timber industry in the days when one or two trees could fill an entire logging truck. More importantly, this is where he met his future bride, Paula Jean Thurman and began a romance spanning six decades.
Upon hearing of the unspoiled beauty of Idaho, Ed and Paula moved their young family to Sandpoint in 1978. Over the ensuing years they were a fixture in several local church bodies and attended countless sporting events to cheer on their grandchildren. Ed shared his love of hunting and fishing with his family and could often be found with a grandchild or two in tow along the banks of the many rivers and lakes in North Idaho. He is much beloved and will be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, most of whom remain in the Sandpoint area. Ed is remembered as a kindhearted person, always ready to lend a hand to those in need, a hard-working family provider, and the finest example of a moral compass to those who knew him.
