Edward Arnold Mason

November 2, 1937 — November 3, 2022

The world lost an Earthly Angel on November 3rd, 2022, just one day after Edward Arnold Mason turned 85. Ed was born in Arrowwood, Alberta, Canada on November 2, 1937, to Everett and Mary Mason. He lost his eternal companion, Margaret, less than a year ago on December 28, 2021, and wanted to join her ever since. Together they raised eight children (Craig, Leanna, Laura, Dean, Diane, Andrea, Jared, and Kara), have 26 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Ed was a spiritual man and lived close to his Heavenly Father. Miracles would happen often in his life as he followed divine inspiration. Ed loved going to the Temple to help patrons understand the value of family history work. He served in many church callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Ed was an entrepreneur at heart. He received two master’s degrees–one in Educational Psychology from BYU in Provo, Utah and the other in Health Services Administration from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. But even with all that schooling he loved creating businesses.

The outdoors were his favorite place to be whether it was camping with the grandkids, running marathons with his kids, or traveling with his wife. He started running marathons at age 72 and completed six full marathons, four half marathons, as well as numerous 5Ks, and a triathlon. He would often say, "If you think you can, or think you can't, you're right!"

Ed had a decidedly optimistic spirit and saw the good in others. He taught that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to do. He valued hard work and lived the principles of integrity and morality in keeping the commandments of our Heavenly Father.

Ed’s kind, gentle spirit and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 19, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sandpoint.  Private interment will follow in Pack River Cemetery.
