Evelyn E Keller passed away on Thursday, January 20,2022 in Kootenai at Hearthstone Assisted Living where she resided close to four years, at the age of 102 years and 10 months.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Bradshaw officiating. Interment will take place in the Westmond Cemetery.
Evelyn was born in Sandpoint, Idaho on March 14, 1919 to Charles and Irma (Ohme) Johnson. She grew up in Cocolalla, attending school with her brothers and sister at the school house which is now the Cocolalla Community Hall. She and her sister would ride the train they called The Dinky to Sandpoint every week for piano lessons.
Evelyn married Eldon (Hap) Keller on June 9, 1938, and after traveling and working in Washington, Oregon, California and Montana they settled on a farm in Westmond, Idaho where they lived and farmed until Hap’s death in 2009 and Evelyn moving into the assisted living in 2018. They celebrated 71 ½ years of marriage. We have an abundance of memories with mom and dad, fishing trips to the St. Joe, trips to Alaska, Mexico and Arizona. They were young for their age; just mention a dance and they were there with all the kids and grandkids.
Evelyn drove school bus for 22 years on the mountainous country roads of Cocolalla and Westmond. She enjoyed being around and getting to know all the neighborhood kids. She also worked as a cashier at Safeway’s on weekends and during the summers for almost 20 years.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters Dorothy Eich and Patricia (Cliff) Irish and her son Ken (Frannie) Johnson; grandchildren Kim (Randy) Powers, Jeff (Karla) Eich, Pam (Robbie) Kucherry all of Sagle, Kirk (Cindy) Quillin of Bayview, Mark (Julie) Quillin of Spokane, Bruce (Gerri) Quillin of Athol, Rusty (Melissa) Irish of Sagle, Becca (Alan) Brinkmeier of Kootenai, Cory (Tawnya) Johnson of Sagle, Jennifer (Pichette) Ryan Owen of Post Falls, Sarah Johnson and Steven Mason of Spokane. Also, 14 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren, brother Charles of Bonners Ferry and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Eugene, Marvin, Clarence, Kenneth, and their wives Dorothy, Alberta, Betty, and Ellen. Sister Gladys, son in law Dean Eich and great granddaughter Kara Powers.
