Fay Emory Howrey Jr., 84, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 at his home in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Fay was born on March 25, 1940 in Denver, Colorado the son of Fay and Anna Howrey. He was the youngest of six children. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1958. While stationed on Treasure Island in San Francisco he would meet his wife Judy Griffiths. They would have five children; three boys and two girls. Their first son would pass away at three days old.
Fay retired from the Denver Fire Department as Lieutenant in 1990 after 27 years of service with the department. Fay and his wife Judy after retiring were full time RVers, traveling to 47 of the 48 contiguous United States. Fay and Judy also worked as park attendants in Colorado, Texas, Georgia and Idaho with the Corps of Engineers. With the contract at Springy Point in Sandpoint they fell in love with the area and purchased a home in 1998. Fay and Judy also purchased the Laclede Store/Conoco Station in Laclede, Idaho in 2005.
Fay is survived by his wife Judy; son Robert (Cathy) Howrey of Franktown, CO and their daughters Tara and McKenzie (Patrick) Kerwin and granddaughter Ellis; daughter Sharon (Randy) Elliott of Sandpoint, ID and children Katie Kirkpatrick and Joshua K both of Laclede and step daughter Faith Lee in Moscow, ID, and five grandchildren Arika, Isaac, Kaiden, Leo and Kayda; daughter Judy Ball of Sandpoint, Idaho; daughter Tiffany Field and grandchildren Tamyka, Tori and Jarvis and daughter Jessica (Ryan) Frick of Rathdrum.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son William Arnold.
Services are being held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the First Baptist Church where they have been members since moving here. Interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
