Gladys A. Johnson

Gladys A. Johnson, 101 years old, passed away on Sunday Nov. 12, 2017 at Hearthstone Village, Kootenai, Idaho.   Private family services will take place at a later time, with inurnment in Westmond Cemetery.   She was born May 29, 1916 at Cocolalla, Idaho to Charles and Irma Johnson.  Upon graduation from Sandpoint High School she attended Kinman Business School in Spokane, Washington and went to work for Ketchum and Sons as a bookkeeper where she worked 30+ years until her retirement.   Gladys traveled with friends to many countries, even riding a camel in Turkey, and also visited many states in the U.S.   All the family enjoyed the wonderful cookies she made for the holidays and the stories she read to the youngsters, especially “the Night Before Christmas,” and games of Chinese Checkers, Chicken Foot, Rummicube and Scrabble were always part of her entertainment.   She moved from Spokane to the Sandpoint area 10 years ago to be closer to her family.   Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Eugene, Marvin, Kenneth and Clarence.   She is survived by her sister, Evelyn E. Keller of Westmond, ID, her brother: Charles R. Johnson of Porthill, Idaho; nephews: Kenneth (Fran) Johnson of Sagle, Brett (Jennifer) Johnson, of Sagle, Don (Jolene) Johnson of Porthill, Wade (Chris) Clary of Athol; nieces: Barbara (Rick) Hensley of Porthill, Nancy (Art) Michaels of Coeur d’ Alene, Joanne Scott of Sagle, Kathy Johnson of Sandpoint, Lois (Mason ) Chapin of Cocolalla, Patty (Cliff) Irish and Dorothy Eich both of Sagle, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
