Jack “Rip” Raynor, 87, passed away on October 15, 2021, in his Sandpoint home. A celebration of “Rip’s” life will be held later.
Jack was born August 30, 1934 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho the son of Fred and Bessie Raynor. Fred and Bessie were at huckleberry camp and Bessie had to brought to the Coeur d’Alene hospital to deliver Jack. Jack was the youngest of 12 children, all of his siblings have preceded him in death.
The family lived in Ponderay, Idaho and in 1953 Jack met Kate Campbell, from Laclede, at the Sandpoint café. They married on October 9, 1954 in Thompson Falls, Montana; they were married for 67 years. Jack, and Kate, had five children; Jackie (Brian) Carter, Radd (Judy) Raynor, Laura King, Patti Balch and Todd Raynor. They have 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Jack loved playing baseball as well as watching his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed coaching baseball and was later the assistant coach for the high school girl’s softball team.
Jack worked in the woods from a very young age and in the early 70’s started R&R Cedar with his nephew Pat Raynor. Following retirement, Jack enjoyed making barn-wood frames and outdoor furniture. His greatest joy was family gatherings and spending time with his kids and grand-kids.
