Leonard Lambert, loving husband and father and beloved grandfather, died at the age of 98 on April 15, 2018, in Sandpoint, ID. He was born in Oklee, MN, and spent his childhood on the family farm. As a young man he worked in the Conservation Corp building the lodge and trails at Mt. Hood, OR. He then served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 5 years in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war he married Mary, and they settled in the Detroit area to raise their family. Leonard worked as a machine operator for the local gas company for 35 years. After retiring he and Mary lived in Oroville, CA, and Boynton Beach, FL, and finally in Sandpoint, ID. Leonard enjoyed baseball, fishing, golfing and helping his children. He was a natural musician who could play almost any instrument by ear. He and Mary liked to dance and they travelled extensively around the U.S. Leonard was a kind hearted, generous man who always had a good story to tell and the time to help anyone in need. He worked hard to provide a good life for his family. He was always extremely positive about life and never allowed unfortunate events to control him or get him down. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his two daughters, Janice and Nancy; his son, Paul, and daughter-in-law Olga; and his two granddaughters, Katya and Polina. Leonard will be truly missed by his family and by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
