Marian “Marn” MacTaggart entered the gates of heaven on July 3, 2019. The only child of Neil Stewart and Vera Olive (Simpson) MacTaggart, Marn developed deep friendships with many people throughout her life.
Born with Cerebral Palsy, she was told she would never walk. Through the help of Shriner’s Hospital she proved the doctors wrong. People told her she would never work, yet she had went to school and had a successful career in health services. Marn worked with the mentally ill and substance abuse patients, leaving Sequoia Hospital in California to take care of her mother who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. After her parents passed away she stayed in San Carlos, California until he moved to Sandpoint, ID in 1996 to be near her friends Barb and Tom Fears.
Marn was an inspiration for many and was always full of fascinating true stories. She won the hearts of many in Sandpoint who helped her when she needed it and even though she couldn’t afford to pay them, Marn was extremely grateful and appreciative. She will be missed by many friends, especially those she considered family.
No services are planned at this time, but if you would like to honor her memory, donations to Panhandle Animal Shelter, Shriner’s Hospitals or Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sandpoint would be welcomed.
