Norman L. Kenworthy, aged 79, peacefully passed away April 15, 2021 in the Spokane Valley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 24, 2021 in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel with Jon Pomeroy, Sandpoint Church of God, officiating. Interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Norman was born to Roy and Irene Kenworthy, a second son, January 27, 1942 in Sandpoint. He worked for Bunker Hill Mining Company Wallace, Idaho, before joining the U.S. Navy in 1964. He trained at Great Lakes, Illinois, and served on the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt, CVA-42 during the Vietnam era.
Norm moved to the Spokane Valley, working for Georgia-Pacific several years. Then he went to work Pacific Hide and Steel Recycling as a truck driver, making friends along the way. In his spare time, he bought a lot in the Valley and built his home of many years.
When Norm retired, he spent his time gardening. He loved square dancing and the outdoors. He crafted several kayaks and belonged to kayaking group that camped and enjoyed the northwest woods and waters. His participation and enthusiasm for Spokane’s Bloomsday Run inspired his brother, his sister, and many friends to also participate for many years. Norm’s kind heart and great sense of humor have touched many.
Norm is survived by his brother Loren (Della) Kenworthy of Sandpoint, Idaho. His sister Wendy (Norbert) Edwardsen of Hilo, Hawaii; 4 Nieces, 2 nephews, 2 great nieces 6 Great nephews a large extended family and many many beloved friends.
