Preceded by her beloved husband Lee Kirkby, Phyllis died in her home on Thursday January 25th, 2024.
Born in Jolliet, Illinois on 11/15/52, Phyllis was the oldest of Alvin and Rosa Heiden’s six children. Melvin, Jared and Edwin cherish her memory, Harley and Kenny preceded her in death. She bore three kids: Nikki (Rob) Shockley, Shana (Steve) O’Donnell and Tyson (Sarah) Glahe; and shared with Lee Delisha, Josh, Justin and Whitney. Phyllis doted on their many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She and Lee were outdoorsmen who hiked, fished and hunted. They adored their dogs and cats. Phyllis was an avid gardener who adorned her yard and house with flowers and was proud to feed her friends and family the fruits and vegetables she grew. She read voraciously. Phyllis loved that she lived in the small North Idaho community of Hope nestled in nature next to the lake.
Before retirement, she supported her family in a variety of roles in the medical and retail fields. She was a medical transcriptionist but was glad to work wherever she was needed.
Phyllis was the greatest fan at the sports events of her kids and grandkids and never afraid to share her opinion with the referees and those near her. The family has many fond memories of camping trips, laughing, and sometimes arguing, around the campfire. The memories she shared from her teenage years were of fast cars and fun with her friends.
