Randy Dale Fairbrother of Sandpoint, ID. was born on September 12th of 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wendy (Peoples) and Dale Reed. However, the man that he viewed and was his father was Ed Fairbrother. Randy passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in his sleep at home January 7th, 2025.
Randy attended and graduated Silverton High school in Silverton Oregon in 1973. He then went into the army in 1976 and was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas. He returned to Oregon and attended Chemeketa Community College receiving his Associate Art degree.
Randy was a quiet and gentle soul with tremendous creativity and inquisitivness throughout his life. He created beautifully crafted colorful ceramic bowls, vases and other pieces he shared with his family. He painted, designed and printed from woodblocking, worked with brass and drew freehand wonderfully abstract pictures. Randy was also an avid reader delving into knowledge with an ambition for absorbing the unknown. His plight of inquisitivness led him through the classics, the Bible and even the Quran as well as other sociological records.
However Randy's real passion and what many will remember him for was his love and passion for music. Whether he was buying a CD, admiring his sister Natalie's ability to sing with such fervor and mindfulness or attend a concert of one of the many bands he followed throughout the decades like the Grateful Dead, the Dave Matthew's Band, ZZ Top or the Red Hot Chili Peppers he was always surrounded and immersed in a melodic atmosphere. Music carried him wherever his feet took him and brought him solace and comfort in his darker moments.
At times he was a wanderer of the earth but his home was truly being near family...with any of his eight brothers and sisters, their spouses, his daughter and grandsons, neices, nephews or great neices and nephews, they were his truest comfort. He loved his family deeply, that even when he was a young man he would take his younger sisters in a backpack to many different social gatherings, school dances and concerts. Randy was always present at family gatherings and enjoyed seeing his big family come together. He was especially thrilled when given the opportunities to see and reconnect with his only child Jessica.
